Happy Homes after tracing dacoits’ vehicle
While hunt was on for the Tavera in which the
dacoits drove away, at around 9 p.m. it was found parked at Happy Homes. Within
minutes of learning it, the local police cordoned off the entire area.
“Surveillance camera video
footage showed two of the dacoits, who made vain bid to loot Muthoot Finance at
Mailardevpally, walking away at the apartment complex,” a police officer said.
Since the gang of dacoits was seen wielding
firearm and knives earlier at Mailardevpally, higher-ups pressed into service armed police
contingents to carryout searches.
Even teams of elite commando force OCTOPUS
were rushed to the spot to meet any eventuality. Investigators were not sure if
all members of the gang left the place after abandoning the vehicle there.
“Not to leave anything to chance, we started
combing every inch of the apartment complex. Each and every flat would be
checked though it would cause some inconvenience to the occupants,” the police
said.
The searches continued till midnight and are
likely to last till Wednesday morning. Seeking cooperation of the families
living in the complex, armed police teams with protective gear continued to
check every part of Happy Homes.
